Six Causes and Solutions for Heating of Slewing Bearing

As we all know, the slewing bearing is a kind of widely used bearing, ranging from a small slewing bearing with a diameter of 100mm to a large slewing bearing with a diameter of 10 meters. Slewing bearings can be used in all walks of life. In the use of slewing bearings, there is a phenomenon that the bearing heats up. Why do bearings get hot? How can the user solve the heating problem of the bearing?

Reason 1: The size of the shaft with the slewing bearing is too large, so the bearing will be tight after installation, and the friction will increase, causing heat generation. 

Solution: Provide proper clearance for the shaft and bearing, and it is strictly forbidden to over-tighten.


Reason 2: The conflict between the three-layer annular sealing ring of the bearing causes heat generation. 

Solution: When installing the sealing hole and ring, grease should be applied to reduce the conflict resistance.


Reason 3: Too much grease is applied to the bearing seat of the slewing ring

Solution: Remove the remaining grease through the sealing hole, and if it is oil lubricated, lower the oil level below the bearing housing.


Reason 4: The inner ring and the sealing ring conflict and generate heat. 

Solution: At this time, stop and check the clamping ring screws to ensure that the inner ring is firmly attached to the shaft, ensure that the bearing is installed correctly, and that the rollers are aligned with the centerline of the outer ring.


Reason 5: Inappropriate type of grease or lubricating oil leads to poor lubrication and heat generation. 

Solution: Choose the right lubricating oil or grease.


Reason 6: Insufficient grease. 

Solution: add an appropriate amount of grease.

In order to ensure the normal use of the slewing bearing, when you encounter the overheating of the slewing bearing, you can stop the slewing bearing in time to check, find out the cause and deal with it to prevent the shortening of the life of the slewing bearing.
